We are pleased to host Life in Beta: Single Player (End Phase) by Sofija Milić (HR), a thought‑provoking and visually rich performance which blends live performance with a vivid projected world.
Join us 9 May at 18:00 at Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts
Life in Beta: Single Player (End Phase) unfolds within the conceptual universe of Life in Beta, developed within the EU co-funded project dancEUA, connecting organizations from Croatia, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, and Sweden.
The work explores a world driven by optimization, abundance, and the pursuit of collective perfection. Set within a living system, bodies function as nodes – synchronized, corrected, and continuously updated by a central intelligence. Within this structure, individuality is not erased, but regulated – aligned, adjusted, and absorbed into the logic of the whole.
In Single Player (End Phase), this system is approached from the perspective of a single body. Isolated within its framework, the performer operates under the same conditions of control, yet without the collective dynamic that once sustained it. Movement becomes contingent, suspended between activation and inertia, as the body remains in a state of continuous waiting.
What emerges is not a reduction, but a shift in focus: optimization reveals itself not through acceleration, but through stasis; not through progress, but through dependency. Life in Beta: Single Player (End Phase) reflects a condition already familiar – where autonomy gives way to guidance, and where the absence of direction becomes its own form of control.
