During her residency at Vitlycke CPA the Swedish dancer/choreographer Liza Penkova (SE) invites the French-American dancer, writer and choreographer Kevin Fay (FR/USA/BE) to join a week of physical research and dance-nerdy brainstorming prior to her upcoming creation Callandia (working title).

Callandia (creation 2027)
The project Callandia (working title) is the third and final part of the trilogy 18 Steps Through (Stories of) Dance, initiated in 2020.
Callandia has a futuristic tone. The participating dancers find themselves in an artistic dystopia year 3017 where all art has died. Together they portray museum attendants whose primary mission is to promote and to defend abolition of dance as an artform. In secret, few of them unite around a shared plan to overturn their assignment.
The first part of the research process is carried out through short residencies with one performer at a time. Through interviews, movement-based explorations, and the collection of artistic material in the form of sound, video, and text, the focus lies on developing methods of creation in which documentation does not merely function as a trace of the process, but as a performative expression in itself.
