We are proud to present a new international collaboration supporting contemporary dance artists in Sweden and Québec.
In April 2026, Québec-based artist Katia-Marie will travel to Vitlyce-CPA, Sweden, while Swedish dancer Salka Ardal Rosengren will undertake a residency in Québec at Circuit-Est centre chorégraphique. This unique residency is part of a Québec–Sweden artistic exchange and a international collaboration within the field of dance.
Through this initiative, artists are invited to deepen their practice, build international connections, and engage with new artistic contexts.

About Circuit-Est.
It is a choreographic centre in the heart of Montreal, Canada that has been supporting research, creation, and professional development in contemporary dance for nearly 40 years. Each year, it hosts residencies, international exchanges, and classes that offer choreographers and performers a stimulating space to experiment, connect, and share their practice locally and internationally. We are thrilled to welcome Katia-Marie to us at Vitlycke- CPA!

Biography

Katia-Marie is a choreographer and performer whose practice is rooted in the notion of presence and the act of inhabiting space. Drawing from her background in visual arts and dance, she develops a highly visual choreographic language in which movement, scenography, and light are intricately interwoven, shaping environments that invite contemplation and renew perception. Active since 2012, she holds BFAs in Visual Arts and Dance, as well as a Master’s degree in Dance from Université du Québec à Montréal, where she developed an interdisciplinary approach blending visual and choreographic practices. Her work has been presented in Canada and internationally, including through artistic exchange programs in Europe and South America, and has been recognized with distinctions, notably the Prix Découverte de la danse de Montréal. Through her creations, she continues to explore the relationships between body, space, time, and identity, seeking to create experiences that engage both the gaze and the senses.

Project Description – Collections

Collections is a research-based choreographic project centered on the creation of ephemeral characters through a daily practice. During the residency, I will create one short choreographic sequence per day, each emerging from a visual artwork depicting a woman situated in a specific place. Observation and writing will serve as starting points to generate presence rather than narrative, allowing each character to embody a fleeting identity shaped by atmosphere, memory, and environment. Working with small objects and materials found on site, the project also explores how the body responds to space, light, and texture. Each day will conclude with a trace of the invented character—drawn and written—gradually forming an archive, or collection, conceived as a living resource for future choreographic, performative, and stage-based works.
