Festival HERE:, a biennial international contemporary performing arts festival on the West coast of Sweden, presents a program of performances that pose sincere, straightforward and challenging questions in the field of contemporary performance and dance. The festival has been organised since 2017 by Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts but this year’s edition HERE:2025 is organised in collaboration with Sekoia – Artes Performativas (Portugal), offering the festival a special focus on the vibrant performing arts scenes of both Sweden and Portugal.

During HERE:2025, performances, along with conversations and film screenings, will be presented on stage, in different rooms/spaces indoors and in the surrounding areas of Vitlycke-CPA. Within this framework, we are looking for performances that offer an innovative and experimental perspective to the contemporary performing arts and dance scene. The festival has a special focus on cross-artistic collaborative works. You can apply with solos, duos or group pieces for performance either to be presented in our black box studio, site-specifically indoors or in nature, outside of Vitlycke – CPA.

Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts (Sweden)

Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts (Vitlycke – CPA) is an artist led independent organisation, founded with the aim of providing an innovative place for creative work within the fields of performing and visual arts, music and new media. A platform where artists can meet, create and share their works in a calm rural environment in the middle of nature, detached from the rhythm of the city. A place for research and education, for public sharing and cultural production.

The centre was established in 2012 by internationally renowned choreographer, dancer and teacher Francesco Scavetta. Vitlycke – CPA has a diverse program that includes artistic residencies, within performing/visual arts and literature; informal showings, performances, after-talks, lectures by artists and researchers, seminars and symposiums, concerts and music events, cycle of workshops and festivals. Sekoia – Artes Performativas (Portugal)

Sekoia – Artes Performativas is a nonprofit organization dedicated to contemporary dance and its intersection with other arts, fostering artistic creation, research, and cultural dialogue. Founded in 2017, it supports artists through residencies, training, and cultural projects like Set-up: Portuguese Contemporary Dance Podcasts and the Amarante Performing Arts Biennial. With studios in Porto and projects in Amarante, Sekoia promotes artistic diversity and access to the performing arts. Read more about Sekoia here: https://www.sekoia.pt

Who can apply

The application is open to professional dancers, choreographers and companies in the fields of contemporary dance and performing arts active in Sweden or in Portugal.

Expenses
HERE:2025 will cover the following expenses for participants:
● Professional fees (established by the Festival*)
● Lodging at Vitlycke-CPA
● Catering during the festival
● Transportation

• Professional fees paid by the Festival to each company or dance group will be agreed upon beforehand, according to the format of the work.

Selection

The selection will be made by the qualified programming team of the festival. The results from the selection will be sent by email to all the applicants until 31st March 2025.
