Residency by Norwegian cellist, composer Lene Grenager & dancer, choreographer Janne-Camilla Lyster to work on the project Embroidered Gestures.

Embroidered Gestures is a short-work created in collaboration between cellist Lene Grenager and dancer Janne-Camilla Lyster. The work springs out of an embroidered, graphic score composed by Grenager. The embroidered score is the basis for a musical and danced reading. The project is based on the idea that music and dance share some basic sensory principles such as space, direction, distance, proximity and listening – which can be woven together into one multi-sensory expression.

The embroidered score consists of angles and distances that meet, thus visually generating musical and dance ideas. The score is read as a joint map of the performers.

Embroidered Gestures is a collaboration that explores the intersection between music and movement through auditive and embodied language.
