Beyond Front@: Bridging Periphery is a new Creative Europe project created by Central European Dance Theatre (Hungary), Bunker (Slovenia), HIPP (Croatia), Krakow Dance
Theatre (Poland), M Studio (Romania) and Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts (Sweden) to foster local development of the contemporary dance fields. The project is announcing an Open Call for participation in the festival HERE:2023 organised by Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts.

The application is open to professional dancers, choreographers and companies in the fields of contemporary dance and performing arts active in Beyond Front@: Bridging Periphery partner countries: Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland and Romania.

Festival HERE: is a biennial international contemporary performing arts festival on the west coast of Sweden, presenting works that pose sincere, straightforward and challenging questions in relation to relevant practices within the field of contemporary performance and dance. Festival is organised by Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts, in collaboration with local and international actors.

Vitlycke – CPA invites choreographers, dancers, performers and companies from the broader spectrum of contemporary dance and performance to submit proposals for participation in HERE:2023, taking place between the 6-17 September 2023 at Vitlycke-CPA.

In HERE:2023 performances will be presented both indoors and outdoors (site-specific) along conversations and film screenings. Within this framework, we are looking for performances that offer an innovative and experimental perspective to the contemporary performing arts and dance scene. Festival has a special focus on collaborative works. You can apply with performances either for black box or site specific.

Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts

Vitlycke- Centre for Performing Arts (Vitlycke- CPA) is an artist led independent organisation, founded with the aim of providing an innovative place for creative work within the fields of performing and visual arts, music and new media. A platform where artists can meet, create and share their works in a calm rural environment in the middle of nature, detached from the rhythm of the city. A place for research and education, for public sharing and cultural production.

Vitlycke – CPA has a diverse program that includes artistic residencies, within performing/visual arts and literature; informal showings and performances, after-talks, lectures by artists and researchers, seminars and symposiums, concerts and music events, cycle of workshops and festivals.

Who can apply

The application is open to professional dancers, choreographers and companies in the fields of contemporary dance and performing arts active in Beyond Front@: Bridging Periphery partner countries: Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland and Romania.

Expenses

The festival will cover the following expenses for participants:
● Professional fees (established by the Festival*)
● Lodging at Vitlycke-CPA
● Per diem
● Transportation

  • Professional fees paid by the Festival to each company or dance group will be agreed upon beforehand, according to the format of the work.
    Application

Deadline for applications is 14 March 2023. We suggest sending proposals at your earliest convenience.

Send your application to opencall@vitlycke.org. If the size of the application is too large, use wetransfer to transfer the attached documents.

The application must include:
- Video link of the performance (total duration, not a trailer)
- Brief description of the performance
- Brief bio of choreographer/company
- Technical requirements (stage and light plan)

- Number of people on tour
- Economic expectation for professional fees
- If the project has a need for cargo shipment of scenography – inform us if you can apply for additional support to cover special conditions of this transport.

Selection

The selection will be made by the qualified programming team of the festival HERE:2023.The results from the selection will be sent by email to all the applicants.
