Extraterrestrial / Sean Ge & Jenni Louwén

How is it that we depict unresearched phenomena in a certain way when there are not enough sources and evidence to establish the facts? Why are we so fascinated by life whose existence is not proven and how come we illustrate these with human proportions?

EXTRATERRESTRIAL is a dance performance structured in a documentary format. The audience will be taken on a journey to different planets where they meet different creatures and get an insight into how their lives are affected by the environment. Each planet has different factors that have changed and with Earth as a starting point, you get to see how life has developed in all its forms.

In addition to the art form of dance, the performance will place great emphasis on the visual. By focusing on background animations, lighting, costume, we want to create a room and an experience that is hard to forget.

Our curiosity about the unknown is a fact and we see interest in delving deeper into the subject and exploring different possibilities with our artistic expression. Our idea is that the acts should visualize an alternative life on a planet or part of the universe. As inspiration for this, the series “Alien Worlds” on Netflix is used, which is a documentary where science, which is based on the structure of the earth, has been transformed into new worlds and how these changes create a certain type of life. In the same way, we want to use the human body to explore its possibility to create forms and beings.
