stockholm university of the arts (SKH)

student residency

28.03 - 10.04

During this residency, students from BA degree programme, taking the course called Subject Specialization, in Dance Performance at Stockholm University of the Arts (Stockholm Konstnärliga Högskola) will work on their own choreographic works.

Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH) provides education and conducts research in the fields of circus, dance, dance pedagogy, film, media, opera, performing arts and acting. Through our pioneering educational environment and innovative research, we aim to increase the power of the arts. A leading Arts University, we address and confront the challenges of society today.

The Department of Dance strives to be a current, qualitative and dynamic place of education and research within contemporary dance and choreography. With its strong ties to the professional sphere, the department actively promotes the development of its artistic field both in Sweden and internationally. The Department aims to create understanding and provide insight into different practices, methods and approaches, but also strives to offer an experimental environment in the intersection between education and research that can be at the forefront of developing dance and choreography of the future.

The Bachelor’s Programme in Dance experiments through practice and reflection with what “contemporary dance” could be today. Over the course of the 3 year program, students can nurture their dancing and thinking in a context that actively examines the genre – its histories, capacities and limitations.
