FUTURE EPICS: symposium and partner meeting

Meeting of the project partners

Project is co-founded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.

18.10 - 20.10

From 18th to 20th of October representatives from organizations Heartefact (Serbia), Tasca (Spain), Dubrovnik Summer Festival (Croatia) and Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts (Sweden) will meet at Vitlycke Centre in order to discuss the Future Epics Project, a two year heritage project co-funded by Creative Europe Programme of the European Union. This three day meeting will end with an open public symposium on 20th of October where interaction between cultural heritage and contemporary art will be discussed.

In relation to the European Year of Cultural Heritage four organizations from four European countries have initiated a new project called the Future Epics. It is a Creative Europe cooperation project between organizations Heartefact (Serbia), Tasca (Spain), Dubrovnik Summer Festival (Croatia) and Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts (Sweden). The idea of the project is to develop new approaches and ways of learning about cultural heritage. More specifically, during the project different narratives of specific historical periods will be deconstructed and combined with contemporary performance art.

The project will provide a space for younger artists where they can express themselves and experiment with art forms with a goal to create new ways of engaging the audience. The result will be three theatre performance pieces that will premiere on Dubrovnik Summer Festival during the year 2020. The main topics of these performances will be issues that have been neglected, forgotten or ignored thought the history.
